Swank Poker’s Advertisement – Linking Gambling To Sexual Success

Swank Poker’s magazine ad campaign has been banned in the United Kingdom for linking gambling to sexual success.  A magazine ad featured a woman cupping her breasts with the slogan ‘Will you hold this pair? The magazine ad campaign that ran in a gambling and poker title called Flush, promised to online gamblers ‘hot action’ where their girl will play as they tell her to.

Advertorial told readers that the female online players featured in the service bring enough action to the tables and she could also be taking care of your wildest fantasies. Rewards included, the opportunity to star in a movie with them and serious erotic action. The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) received complained form the Remote Gambling Association (RGA) that the advertisements linked gambling to sexual and seduction success. They also argued that they were not socially responsible, mostly in relation to protecting vulnerable persons and children from being exploit.

The company, Swank Poker, denied the allegations by saying that it was clearly written on the advertisements that its services were for adults only. They also said that they offered rewards of an adult nature instead of caps and t-shirts and those were legally sold. However, the ASA ruled that the ads did violate the advertising code and banned them from future publications.
